The Treatment Alternative Program (TAP) for male and female juvenile probationers operates in collaboration with the Dauphin County Juvenile Probation Department and The PROGRAM – “It’s About Change” to enable them to receive individualized programming and services to ultimately assist them with their needs and goals relative to education, employment and behavior modification.
Opportunity
The PROGRAM – “It’s About Change” has been a community-based treatment provider since November 1998. Formally known as the Intensive In-Home Programming, the Treatment Alternative Program (TAP), it provides community-based alternatives that includes programming and services in lieu of incarceration and placement services to both male and female adolescents under formal probation supervision. TAP enables these young men and women to receive individualized programming and services in their community and homes and ultimately assists them in achieving their goals.
Based on the Balanced Approach to Restorative Justice (BARJ) principles, TAP provides curfew monitoring for community protection, helps young men and women accept accountability for their actions and become positive members of their communities, and provides competency development through supporting their educational and academic activities.
